Acid Reflux Remedies

Before you claim you found acid reflux remedies, you should have a good understanding of acid reflux.  Acid reflux is a disease, commonly known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is a medical condition caused by stomach acid that abnormally travels backwards up into the esophagus.  This condition is frequently misdiagnosed as heartburn.  In actuality, heartburn is one of the many symptoms of acid reflux disease.  No matter what you call it, there are acid reflux remedies that can relieve the pain and the symptoms.

Acid reflux disease affects infants, children and adults.  Left untreated, it can cause a life time of unnecessary pain.  On rare occasions it can be linked to  surgery, cancer or even death.  If you would like to learn how to manage your acid reflux and heartburn permanently… without drugs, without antacids, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important information you will ever read.  You are going to find out about the latest acid reflux remedies.

WARNING: Prolonged Use of

Prescription Drugs and Antacids

May Cause Dangerous Side Effects

and Worsen Acid Reflux Symptoms

Read the warnings that the pharmacists give you with your prescription drugs.  They tell you before you take it that the drugs are not acid reflux remedies.  The vast majority of prescription drugs, not just those aimed at treating heartburn, can severely damage your delicate natural internal balance, interfere with liver function, build up toxins in your body, slow down your metabolism and lead to serious side effects.

Drugs like Prilosec, Prevacid or Nexium aimed at treating acid reflux can actually stimulate your stomach to produce extra amounts of acid.  They are not to be taken for longer than 8 weeks. Antacids like Tums, Pepcid, Zantac, and Rolaids deal with the symptoms of acid reflux and not with the root cause. Breaking up the acid in the stomach may eventually make heartburn worse. Stomach acid helps absorb nutrients.  It is the first line of defense against candida (which can lead to acid reflux and heartburn).  It’s a vicious cycle of pain!  Instead of looking for relief from the symptoms, it’s smarter to look for acid reflux remedies.

Acid Reflux Garden Remedies

Acid Reflux Garden Remedies

Walk into your favorite health food store and chances are you will find a number of herbs that are reputed to be acid reflux garden remedies. A thorough look at the evidence suggests that , yes, some herbal remedies do relieve and prevent heartburn the associated with acid reflux. Some of the more common, or should we say, most reported acid reflux garden remedies are ginger root, bitters and apple cider vinegar.

Ginger Root Is One of Many Great Acid Reflux Garden Remedies

Ginger root is a medicinal herb used primarily for the treatment of Dyspepsia (discomfort after eating), this includes the symptoms of bloating, heartburn, flatulence, and nausea. Supplements are available in powders, capsules, tablets and liquids. Also, the whole root can be used medicinally, and it can be made into a tea. This appears to be the most helpful herb. There are many reports that it works. No one is sure how it works, but it seems to absorb the acid and have the secondary effect of calming the nerves.  Chewing on ginger root is one of your acid reflux garden remedies that work. It tastes good!

Bitters Make the List of Acid Reflux Garden Remedies

A class of herbs called bitters, used for many years in parts of Europe, is also helpful. Examples of common bitters are gentian root, wormwood and goldenseal. The bitter herbs stimulate the enzymes and fluids your body needs to digest food quickly and efficiently. Not enough stomach acid is just as bad as too much. Taking bitters before a meal will stimulate your body’s natural acid production without the need for a dietary enzyme supplement. Bitters come in pills and extracts. They may not taste great, but they have been reported to work great.  Bitters are one of the acid reflux garden remedies that work!

Acid Reflux Garden Remedies Incomplete Without Apple Cider Vinegar

Outside the herb family, a commonly accepted remedy for acid reflux and heartburn is apple cider vinegar. It may sound bizarre to ingest an acid when you have an acid problem, but there are good acids and bad acids. This is similar to the theory that fat burns fat. Apple cider vinegar mimics the level of acid in the stomach and helps food digest properly, which also helps the stomach in digesting. In a significant number of cases, vinegar helps acid reflux as well as heartburn more effectively than the best antacids on the market. This is probably one of the most common acid reflux garden remedies.

Acid Reflux Remedies and Natural Heartburn Remedies

Acid Reflux Remedies Are Natural Heartburn Remedies

People with Acid reflux disease could greatly benefit from acid reflux remedies and natural heartburn remedies.  Acid reflux disease is one of the most common diseases in America.  And, it is the most expensive chronic gastrointestinal disorder.  The cumulative costs are approaching $10 billion each year.  Natural, holistic healing is good for you and you can save a great deal of money.  Click here to get started today.

Health professionals at the American Gastroenterological Association reported to The International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD)  that  an estimated 33 percent of the U.S. population have acid reflux disease.  Nearly 40 percent of acid reflux sufferers try many acid reflux remedies.

Over the counter drugs, prescription drugs, diets, vitamins may all work temporarily.  Many of these methods, over time, may cause the condition to worsen.  Out of the remaining 60 percent most people will either use a conventional acid reflux medication like prescription drugs or will try to change their diet.  Natural heartburn remedies would work better.   Since none of these methods are acid reflux remedies that treat the root cause of the disease, acid reflux remains one of the most common diseases in the United States.

A Population at Risk of Acid Reflux Disease

Excess weight around the abdomen due to obesity or pregnancy causes increased pressure on the stomach, which can elevate the risk of developing acid reflux disease.

The American Academy of Otolaryngology reports that acid reflux disease is a problem that spans the entire life cycle. Infants and children can develop this condition.  Many infants and children usually outgrow the disease during early childhood.

Everyone with these symptoms can benefit from acid reflux remedies, or natural heartburn remedies.

Symptoms

Symptoms of acid reflux disease in children and infants include:

  • Recurrent or projectile vomiting
  • Coughing
  • Respiratory problems

These symptoms can be misdiagnosed as asthma or allergies.

In adults, people with excess weight around their mid-section (pregnant women and those suffering from obesity) are prone to acid reflux disease.  The risk is elevated due to the increased pressure on the stomach.

Surgery

Sometimes, the very drugs that are used to treat acid reflux disease can create a situation where the conditions worsen.   If left untreated, it can cause erosive esophagitis.  This medical condition can cause severe damage to the tissue lining the esophagus.  According to health professionals at the Nexium product site, an acid reflux disease drug website, approximately one-third of patients with acid reflux disease may go on to develop erosive esophagitis. Severe cases of acid reflux disease may also require surgery to repair the damaged tissue within the esophagus.   These are drastic acid reflux remedies.  Natural Heartburn remedies would have been much less invasive.

Progression From Heartburn to GERD

Acid Reflux RemediesLook at what could happen if you do not listen to your bodies warning sign.  Heartburn is your bodies signal that something serious is wrong.

  • Taking Rolaids or similar quick fixes for heartburn on a regular basis.
  • If you find yourself taking Rolaids regularly, over the counter prescriptions are the next step in your health professionals acid reflux remedies plan.
  • If you wait too long to do something about heartburn, prescription drugs may not work.
  • Your medical professionals next step in their acid reflux remedies plan may be surgery.
If it’s too late for surgery, you may face cancer and death.

Ignoring, or even masking,  the symptoms of  heartburn could be a serious mistake.   However, harsh drugs are not your only answer when planning acid reflux remedies.  There are natural acid reflux remedies that have been proven to be effective both at the onset of heartburn, and, as an alternative to prescription drugs.  Natural acid reflux remedies, generally, don’t have harsh side effects that are more dangerous than the cure.

Acid Reflux Remedies

Though there is no cure for acid reflux disease, symptoms can sometimes be managed through the use of over-the-counter or prescription medications.  These drugs claim to help neutralize or regulate acid produced by the stomach.  You may find that the use of acid reflux remedies and natural heartburn remedies that take a holistic and natural approach can permanently alleviate most symptoms associated with this condition.

Natural Heartburn Remedies

There is a program that provides many holistic acid reflux remedies.  It includes treatment with natural heartburn remedies.  The information is very information and will make you seriously think about the acid reflux remedies you have tried that failed.
The program is designed to totally eradicate the root causes of acid reflux.  The program is conducted by a medical researcher,  nutritionist, and member of the American  Holistic Health Association.
